Half documentary and half fiction, this film depicts village life in Mali, a day to day existence barely touched by the events of the millennium, and reflects on the complicated relationship between Europe and Africa, using voiceovers and quotes by Aimé Césaire. ‘Heremakono, en attendant le bonheur ‘(2001) ran at Cannes in 2002 in the series ‘Un certain regard’.
