Born in Houston, Texas and raised in Los Angeles, California, Melora is a California girl with grit. The daughter of esteemed character actor, Jerry Hardin and well-known acting teacher/manager, Diane Hill Hardin, Melora was born to perform. She began dancing when she was five, acting professionally when she was eight, and singing and writing songs since she can remember. Her mother Diane, recalls melora at the age of two strumming away on her brother, Shawn's guitar for hours until a blood blister arose, composing a song entitled "Coughing Genie", proof that Melora's sense of humor developed early in life.

Diane felt so convinced that Melora would use her "beautiful voice" someday in her career that she had all of Melora's fillings (she only has four) filled with white instead of the common silver filling material. And so it all began, with ballet lessons three times a week until she was nine when she started taking classes everyday, a busy work schedule as an actress with early work on series like Thunder, in which she starred, and guest spots on shows like Quincy, Little House On The Prairie, Hotel, Different Strokes, Love Boat and many others, and movies like North Avenue, Irregulars and Haywire, Melora carved out a place for herself in show business.

Melora was always writing songs and since she didn't play an instrument she developed a knack for memorizing melodies and lyrics for years until she discovered the tape recorder. When she realized that singing and songwriting were a passion she, unwittingly, embarked on a journey of self-discovery. She made her first recordings in New York with the only musician friends she knew at the time. Those recordings as well as the many that followed represented aspects of Melora, as did her very successful first CD "The Meloradrama". When she started recording her new CD, "Purr", she only had one thing in mind. To make music that she liked, that was honest to who and what she is. In this mind set Melora was happy to discover an imense sense of freedom and the CD almost seemed to make itself. She is very happy and proud of the result.

She credits many things in her life as contributing factors in this continuing process of discovery. Attending the summer scholarship program at the Joffery Ballet School when she was thirteen, studying at Sarah Lawrence College, backpacking through Europe alone for 3 months, friends and family and all the work she's done as an actress, dancer and singer. Acting in films like Absolute Power, Soul Man, Lambada (Set The Night On Fire), Big ManOn Campus, and Reckless Kelly, showtime and HBO movies like Chameleon, and Seven Girlfriends and in television shows like Quantum Leap, Friends, The Pretender, Caroline In The City, Dirty Dancing (the TV series, starring as Baby), and currently the show she is starring in on USA Network Sunday nights at 9.00pm, Cover Me. Also a great asset to Melora's life journey thus far are the times she has been fortunate enough to sing on the big and small screen. In Disney's Rocketeer, Melora did a gorgeous cameo coming out of a clamshell singing Begin The Beguine and When Your Lover has Gone. Both songs can be found on the motion picture soundtrack in their entirety. She also sang in Tower Of terror, Shangri-La-Plaza and Mann And Machine, Papa Was A Preacher, and in a production of All's Well That Ends Well at the Old Globe Theater in San Diego CA.

Melora lives in Los Angeles with her husband, actor/writer, Gildart Jackson and their 3 cats, works on Cover Me in Salt lake City, Utah and writes songs on the set and during the long drives back and forth. She fumbles around on the piano and guitar and loves to sing live, so hopefully you'll get to see her perform sometime. We'll keep you posted.
