Mandy Moseley is an American singer-songwriter and actress. Mandy Rain was a past of member of School Gyrls, which was produced by Nick Cannon. Born as Amanda Moseley in Hollywood, Florida, she is the daughter of actor/comedian Mark Moseley, and sister of actor/singer/dancer Matt Moseley.

Amanda started her career at an early age. At 13, she was cast from a group of 3000 hopefuls to star in a Nick Cannon-produced television show for Nickelodeon, "The Giggle Club", about a pop/hip hop group of 10 talented young people that included, among other names, Adam G. Sevani(now well-known for starring in the "Step Up" movies). It was during the filming of "The Giggle Club" that Amanda was given her stage name by Cannon, who determined that she should be nick-named "Mandy Rain". While filming the show, Rain's singing/dancing talent and energy caught the eye of Cannon, who, after the Giggle Club project ended, decided to groom Rain for a solo career. He brought her to record producers to record solo tracks, while he drafted a sitcom concept, "The Diaries of Mandy Rain", to pitch Mandy to Nickelodeon and Disney.

When Cannon heard a song Rain recorded called "Detention", he instead pursued the idea of creating a TV show about three private school girls who meet in detention (the solo song Mandy had recorded appeared "as is" in the resulting "School Gyrls" movie). Cannon created the girl group "Schol Gyrls" and brought in Monica Parales and Jacque Pyles (Jasmine Villegas was briefly the original third member, but left to focus on a solo career). Rain made an album/soundtrack with the group, and a movie titled "School Gyrls", which was filmed in the summer of 2009. Cannon convinced his friend L.A. Reid at Island Def Jam to allow an (at the time) up-and-coming young artist to make a cameo in the "School Gyrls" movie. By the time the movie aired on Nickelodeon more than six months later, the young man, Justin Bieber had exploded as an international star, ensuring dramatic ratings for the introduction of the "School Gyrls". The group followed up the following year with a holiday album and movie titled "A Very School Gyrls Holla-Day".
