Her father owned an amusement house, and her mother worked in a hospital. With their encouragement, she started theater at a very young age. As her career progressed, she stayed enrolled in her hometown's public high school, and stays enrolled there currently as a junior. At the age of nine, Jennifer landed a role in New York City playing Samantha and Josefina in a show based on the American Girl Dolls. While continuing to do community theater, Damiano continued to do various shows, both as small roles in New York City and doing community theater in her suburban hometown, including the shows "Oliver!" and performing in "Inner Voices: Solo Musicals" in NYC. On December 10, 2006, at only the age of 15, she had gotten a job as an understudy in "Spring Awakening", the youngest in the cast. She was understudying for almost all the roles, including Anna, Martha, Thea, Ilse and an ensemble member. When she was originally hired to understudy all the roles, including Wendla. However, she ended up not being able to cover the role because the role requires brief nudity, which would have been illegal because she was under 16, and it would have been considered child pornography. She remained a part of the show until January 18, 2009, after which she landed the role of Natalie, the angsty teenage daughter of a woman with manic-depression in "Next To Normal". She got the role of Natalie while the show was still at Second Stage Theater. After she joined the cast, the show moved it Arena Stage in Washington, D.C. and eventually to Broadway at the Booth Theatre. Her first appearance on Broadway as Natalie Goodman was January 18, 2009. [edit] Other Appearances

Damiano had shown a strong disinterest in other forms of acting, such as television and movies, making only one other appearance besides her Broadway jobs and her other theatrical appearances. The one appearance was on Gossip Girl, (an apparent Next To Normal tradition - former castmate, Aaron Tveit, has also been making appearances on the same show.) in the episode entitled "It's a Wonderful Lie."[3] Damiano has yet to make any film appearances, and doesn't plan to anytime in the near future.
