Three years after graduating with a degree in Performing Arts from Radford University, Jayma Mays landed on her first on screen appearance with a guest spot in a September 2004 episode of NBC sitcom “Joey.” She followed it up with more guest roles in such TV series as HBO mockumentary/sitcom starring Lisa Kudrow, "The Comeback," HBO comedy-drama "Six Feet Under," CBS sitcom "How I Met Your Mother" and FOX sitcom "Stacked." She also debuted on the big screen alongside Rachel McAdams, Cillian Murphy and Brian Cox in Wes Craven's drama/thriller Red Eye (2005), playing Cynthia, the assistant of a hotel manager (played by McAdams) who is held captive aboard a red eye flight to Miami.

Following her film debut, Mays returned to television guest starring in an episode of FOX's critically-acclaimed medical drama "House M.D." and NBC dramedy "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip." She also had recurring roles on HBO dramedy "Entourage" and NBC drama series “Heroes.” Additionally, she was cast in the comedic TV movie If You Lived Here, You'd Be Home Now (2006), starring Zac Efron.

Moviegoers subsequently saw Mays played a nurse in Clint Eastwood's Academy Award-nominated film Flags of Our Fathers (2006), a war drama film which details the Battle of Iwo Jima and Raising the flag on Iwo Jima. The film, based on the book of the same name written by James Bradley and Ron Powers, stars Ryan Phillippe, Adam Beach and Jesse Bradford.

More recently, Mays appeared in Gregg Araki's comedy film starring Anna Faris, Smiley Face. She also starred as Lucy, an employee at a museum who is desperate to get "the code" in a parody of The Da Vinci Code, in writers-directors Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer's comedic satire of films, Epic Movie. The film, which mainly spoofs some of the high box office grossing epic films of 2005 and 2006, debuted at #1 at the box office with a gross of $18 million. It also stars Kal Penn, Adam Campbell and Jennifer Coolidge.

For her upcoming projects, Mays just completed Michael Pietrzak's comedic movie about wacky club denizens, Bar Starz (starring Jon Bernthal, Derek Waters and Charlie Finn), and James Keach's romantic comedy movie, Blind Guy Driving (starring Chris Pine, Eddie Kaye Thomas and Anjali Jay).
