Alex Reid is an English mixed martial artist, kick boxer and actor who used the nickname The Reidernator. Alex has fought for Cage Rage, BAMMA and UCMMA. Throughout his MMA career he has fought some of the most well known fighters, especially from the earlier days of the UFC, such as former welterweight champion Dave Menne and UFC 14 middleweight finalist Tony Fryklund, he has also faced Murilo 'Ninja' Rua, Tom Watson, Xavier Foupa-Pokam, Mark Weir and Jorge Rivera. In his spare time, Reid is a gym instructor.
He also often 'MC's national BAMMA third-party events around the UK for MMA fighters in the BAMMA League. Alex became a celebrity in Britain when he began to date the glamour model Katie Price. He won Celebrity Big Brother 7 in January 2010. Reid and Price married in February 2010 and separated in January 2011. In 1996 when he was 21, Reid enlisted with 10th (Volunteer) Battalion of the Parachute Regiment (10 PARA), a Territorial Army unit based in London. In 1998 Reid studied on the one-year acting course at the Guildford School of Acting, in Surrey. Along with his mixed martial arts, his military experience and acting training would contribute to his career. In his first TV appearance, Reid was a contestant on the hit ITV Show, Gladiators, and also had a recurring background role in the ITV drama, Soldier Soldier. In 1998, Reid had a small role as an extra in Sliding Doors, during the launch of Clive's Restaurant. He was also in the film, Saving Private Ryan as a stand in for Tom Hanks.
Reid first got in to martial arts at 14 and with time turned to mixed martial arts: "It was just a natural progression. I started off doing kung fu, karate-style tournaments before moving on to boxing, kickboxing, a little bit of judo, jiu-jitsu. MMA was a natural progression for a young lad wanting to find the latest and best style. It's just the most efficient and effective blend of martial arts really." He had also participated in mixed martial arts promotions Cage Rage, BAMMA and UCMMA and made his professional mixed martial arts debut in 2000.
