Eddie Murphy and Melanie Brown from the Spice Girls have been involved for a couple of months, from July to December last year. Their brief affair resulted in a tiny bundle of joy, that Mel later called Angel Iris. But Angel is also the reason of discontent among the two former lovers: after a paternity test established that the comedian was indeed her papa, there still are some very important financial issues to be settled. Like, how much will Melanie get for bearing Eddie's child? And who's going to look after Angel in the coming years? So far, Melanie has been the one doing all the talking in the media: to make a very, very long story short, she claims that, first and foremost, both she and Eddie wanted the child and even planned it, that the actor is a 'deadbeat dad' who not only refused to pay Angel's alimony but even Melanie's hospitalization bills and that she has tried all that was in her power to make him understand that he should play an important part in his child's life. Since all that failed, she was left with no other option than head straight to court, asking a judge to force Eddie to fulfill his parental duties.
