Mark Wahlberg is to star in an English-language remake of Icelandic thriller "Reykjavik-Rotterdam," entertainment industry press reported Tuesday.

Wahlberg, the Oscar-nominated star of "The Departed," will play a crooked security guard who signs up for a smuggling run, Daily Variety reported.

The film is an adaptation of Oskar Jonasson's Icelandic film of the same name, which has been put forward as the country's submission for next year's Oscars foreign language entry.

Wahlberg, 38, will next be seen in Peter Jackson's "The Lovely Bones" due for release later this year.
