British pop star
Robbie Williams unveiled his comeback single Friday, calling it a "turning point" which will decide his future after three years out of the spotlight and reports of odd behaviour.
"Bodies", to be released on October 11, is his first single since his 2006 "Rudebox" album, which flopped.
Since then the British singer and former member of
Take That spent time in California, grew a bushy beard and reportedly pursued an interest in unidentified flying objects.
"What it means to me is that I'm at a turning point in my career," said the 35-year-old, who took the single in person to the BBC's Radio One station.
"This next record decides my path.
"There's been a few great songs here and there, along the way, but you just forget. You forget what you've done -- it's all in the past."
Williams' new album, "Reality Killed The Video Star", was produced by Trevor Horn, once half of electro-pop duo The Buggles. It is due out on November 9.
"I want people to feel elated, I want them to dance, I want them to forget about who they are and where they are for 50 minutes -- and, within those 50 minutes of forgetting who they are, I also hope people relate to the songs," Williams said of his album.
The singer said he had no plans to return to live performing.
"I get tremendous stage fright that's getting in the way of me enjoying it. Awful, awful. Growing more and more as I get older... it's terrifying. I want to find a way around it. I will do," he told BBC radio.
Williams said he would like to work with
Take That again. The four remaining members have enjoyed a renaissance since returning in 2005 after nine years away.
Since leaving
Take That in 1995, Williams has enjoyed huge success as a solo artist.
He has had six British number one hit singles, all his studio albums has topped the charts in Britain and he has sold a total of 55 million records worldwide.
