BRUSSELS (AFP) - Mick Jagger lent glamour Wednesday to a button-down round table discussion about Internet retailing opportunities in the European Union. The Rolling Stones front man mingled with the likes of Apple chief executive Steve Jobs and French luxury goods tycoon Bernard Arnault at a European Commission conclave on breaking down barriers to online retailing. "The people of Europe were promised a union, a place without borders, but on the Internet they have not yet got it," said EU Competition Commissioner Neelie Kroes in a press statement. Participants in the roundtable -- chaired by Alcatel-Lucent chief executive Ben Verwaayen and including eBay's John Donahue, John Eikaan of Fiat and Roger Faxon of EMI records -- are drafting a short consultation report on the issue.
