star Nick Carter claims the band was not at all a "boy band" - and in its place were a 'vocal harmony group'.
The group blast to prominence in the 1990s with their self-titled initial album and have sold over 75 million records all over the world - but Carter is resolute they didn't take their musical signs from bands like British five piece Take That.
Carter says, "We were never a boy band. We always thought of ourselves as a white vocal harmony group, we didn't model ourselves on Take That or anything. Maybe things started off a little boy band-ish but after a while you shed that."
