Biography of Amy Pietz
Amy Pietz was born on March 6th, 1969 in Milwaukee , Wisconsin and was raised in the Milwaukee suburb of Oak Creek. During her childhood, Pietz originally trained as a ballet dancer, but finances ended this option as a career path. Her seventh grade social studies teacher inspired her to pursue acting after he cast her as the lead in "Oliver!" Pietz was inspired as an actress by the likes of Lucille Ball, Carol Burnett and Mary Tyler Moore. She was among the first graduating class of the Milwaukee High School of the Arts and then went on to received a B.F.A. degree in acting from DePaul University (Chicago) in 1991. She later received an Award for Excellence in the Arts from DePaul.

After college, Pietz’s first professional role was in "A View From the Bridge", produced by Steppenwolf Theatre Company. She spent two years in Chicago performing in the theatre, and co-founded the Eclipse Theatre Company. Her agent sent her to Los Angeles in 1994, where she landed a small role in Star Trek: The Next Generation. She then got her first regular role on the short lived WB series Muscle. Less than a month after finishing Muscle, Pietz auditioned for Caroline in the City. Citing her "incredible energy" and "ability to deliver a joke," the show’s creators cast her into the role of Caroline’s neighbor, Annie. Pietz played this role for the entire 4 seasons that Caroline aired. She most recently starred on The Weber Show (originally titled Cursed) for its one and only season. Since The Weber Show ended, Amy has been doing a number of charity fundraisers and theater projects, including producing Xanadu Live.

During Pietz’s time in Chicago, she met another actor, Kenny Williams. He later appeared on the 1996 season finale episode Caroline and the Wedding as an usher. Pietz and Williams married in May of 1997, in her hometown of Milwaukee.

Other acting roles of Pietz included her feature film debut in Jingle All the Way, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. She also starred in a short 1999 feature Jell-Ohh Lady that also featured her husband, Kenny. Pietz played starring roles in two made for TV films, Call for Help (aka Every 9 Seconds) and All Lies End in Murder.

A few other miscellaneous facts: She was nominated for "Outstanding Performance by a female Actor in a Comedy Series" Screen Actors Guild award in 1999. Hobbies include golfing and skiing. Favorite groups include They Might Be Giants. Favorite actress is Holly Hunter, and she greatly admires stage actress Cherry Jones.
