Nigella Lucy Lawson was born January 6, 1960, the daughter of famous father Nigel Lawson, the second most powerful person in politics while serving as Margaret Thatcher's Chancellor of the Exchequer.
A studious woman with a great way with words, Nigella attended Oxford University in 1979, earning a degree in Medieval and Modern Languages. She pursued a career in journalism, and got her start as the restaurant reviewer for the The Spectator. This eventually led to her position as deputy literary editor of the Sunday Times, and as a freelance writer for publications like The Guardian and Daily Telegraph in the UK and Bon Appetit in the US. It wasn't until she received a position with Vogue magazine that she rose to prominence. |
