Singer-songwriter Sylvia Tosun is hardly your standard-issue dance floor siren. The classically trained soprano was accepted at age 15 to the Juilliard School of Music in New York, where her studies included opera, composition and piano. After a brief time with the NY Grand Opera Company, Tosun realized her true musical heart was more diverse than the classics she was studying, and
she soon branched off into “Rock-Opera”, landing a position as Lead Vocalist for the acclaimed Trans-Siberian Orchestra, where she was featured with the chart-topping act in numerous platinum-and gold-selling albums worldwide.
Tosun first full-length project, 2002’s “Anthem: Vol. 1,” comprised world music anthems sung in their mother tongue from Israel, Italy, Germany, France, Japan, Russia, Australia and the U.K. Inspired by her extensive volunteer work with the USO where she would sing regularly for military and foreign dignitaries, the project garnered international praise and served as a platform for Global Patriotism for the United Nations. As co-founder of global full-service record company Sea To Sun Recordings, Tosun has meshed Electronica beats with her world music sensibility, catapulting her to the top of the International Dance Music Charts.
