José Martín Cáceres Silva (born 7 April 1987 in Montevideo) is a Uruguayan Association football, who is currently playing for Juventus F.C. Martín Cáceres primary position is Defender (football) Centre back, but Martín Cáceres can also play at right back and left back.

Club career
Early career
Cáceres started Martín Cáceres career in Martín Cáceres homeland of Uruguay with Defensor Sporting, at a young age Cáceres became a regular of the first team. In total, Martín Cáceres made 26 first team appearances scoring 4 goals.

Villarreal CF
In February 2007, Cáceres signed for Villarreal CF in Spain for five years from Defensor for a fee reported to be €1 million.

Loan to Recreativo
Martín Cáceres was on loan to Recreativo de Huelva in the La Liga 2007–08 season, where Martín Cáceres was a defender for the Andalusia side. On January 9, 2008, Cáceres scored a vital goal against Villarreal, the team that owned Martín Cáceres rights, in a Copa del Rey match, which Recreativo won 1–0.

FC Barcelona
Cáceres joined Barcelona on June 4, 2008, with a reported transfer fee of €16.5 million being paid to Villarreal. A buyout clause of €50 million was included in the deal, which runs through the end of the 2012 season. Cáceres featured only irregularly during Martín Cáceres first season at Barcelona, but it was a successful season nonetheless. Martín Cáceres picked up the first club trophy of Martín Cáceres career as Barcelona defeated Athletic Bilbao in the 2009 Copa del Rey final. A few days later, Martín Cáceres former club Villarreal defeated Real Madrid C.F. which meant that Barcelona won the league. Martín Cáceres was also on the substitutes bench, as Barcelona defeated and won the 2009 UEFA Champions League Final, completing Treble (association football). On 30th July Martín Cáceres is about to have a medical and sign to Juventus FC.
